The oxidizing coat of metal -- anodizing

In order to protect and improve the performance of metals, people keep inventing a variety of new methods, today we are going to introduce anodizing. Anodic oxidation, the electrochemical oxidation of metals or alloys. It refers to the process of forming a layer of oxide film on the metal products (anode) under the action of external current under the corresponding electrolyte and specific process conditions. Widely used in the field of aluminum alloy, titanium alloy and magnesium alloy. Metal oxide film changes the surface state and performance, such as surface coloring, improve corrosion resistance, enhance wear resistance and hardness, protect the metal surface, etc. Anodic oxidation technology is the most widely used and successful in the field of aluminum alloy in our daily life. The very common Xiaomi charger, for example, is made of anodized aluminum.

Anodizing can also be very textured, as in the latest iPhone 12, which has anodized aluminum in the frame.

In recent years, the anodic oxidation technology is also constantly improved, developed some new anodic oxidation process, such as gradual oxidation, oxidation polishing, two-color oxidation, micro-arc oxidation and so on. Although the cost has increased a lot, it has greatly improved the surface effect.

The gradient oxidation

It is said that gradual dyeing requires the craftsman to carry the product in the dye VAT continuously to do the lifting action, and the lifting amplitude can be uniform within half an hour without any pause in order to achieve the gradual effect. Oxide polishing

Double color oxidation

Micro-arc oxidation

Micro-arc oxidation (MAO), also known as plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO), is a development based on anodic oxidation technology, resulting in a coating superior to anodic oxidation. The modified ceramic coating with matrix metal oxide as the main component and electrolyte as the supplementary component grows on the surface of the alloy. Its anti-corrosion and wear resistance are significantly better than the traditional anodic oxidation coating, so it has been widely used in Marine ships and aviation components. The development and maturity of anodic oxidation process has greatly promoted the wide application of various metals and alloys represented by aluminum, helped metals overcome many natural defects, and made metals better serve people's life.
